  • Sennaya Bay is a ruggedly picturesque bay within Baikal National Park and our first camping destination on this trip. Above the bay, a mountain path winds along the spurs of the Primorskiy Mountain Ridge
  • Peschanaya Bay is considered to be the most beautiful of all Baikal’s bays, with its soft white sand beach, emerald water and ‘walking trees’, featuring stilt-like roots tall enough for people to pass underneath
  • After spending a full morning exploring Peschanaya, we’ll enjoy a scenic paddle down to Srednie Bay, a secluded cove set against a backdrop of the dense forest. On this leg, there’s a fair chance of spotting freshwater nerpa seals peering at you from the surface of the clear waters of Baikal

This 5 day Baikal kayaking and camping tour will give you the chance to spend time in some of the most beautiful spots along the Baikal coast.

Kayaking is perhaps the best way to experience the true beauty of Lake Baikal in the summer months. You’ll feel completely at ease with evenings on the lake’s gorgeous beaches and stunning coves in absolute serenity, after the tourist day boasts have long since gone. Enjoy morning walks along stunning trails in the Baikal National Park.

Our tour begins in the region's main city of Irkutsk, where we’ll be transferred from the airport to Buguldeika village, 200km away, situated on the Lake Baikal shore, 200 km from Irkutsk. Launching from Buguldeika, you’ll enjoy a total of four days of leisurely kayaking on the calm waters of Baikal and three nights camping in the along the lakeshore, surrounded by the forested and mountainous wilderness of the region. On your last day of kayaking, we’ll pull into Bolshoe Goloustnoe, where you’ll be treated to lunch in this traditional Siberian village before making our way back to Irkutsk.

Day 1:Welcome to Irkutsk

Welcome to Irkutsk. At the airport, you’ll be greeted by your 56th Parallel tour leader and led to the minibus. From the airport, you’ll be transferred to Buguldeika village situated on the Lake Baikal shore, 200 km from Irkutsk.

Guests will have a quick lunch at a roadside café on their journey. By your
arrival, you will have learned the basics of kayaking and will take a short trip to your camping place. You will then spend the night in tents enjoying the wilderness around them.

Day 2:Sennaya Bay

After breakfast, your Baikal kayaking journey will begin.

Today you’ll cover around 20 km of Baikal waters, stopping along the way at several beautiful spots to take photos and rest. On rout enjoy the beautiful views of Sennaya Bay, before spending the rest of the afternoon on its shores and camping overnight.

Day 3:Peschanaya Bay

Today will include a half-day transition, while the second half of the day will be spent in one of the most spectacular spots on Lake Baikal – Peschanaya Bay.

The bay is famous for its golden beaches, emerald water and ‘walking trees’ – where water, winds and even guests can pass through under the tree’s roots.

You will set up camp in a nearby bay called “Babushka” (meaning
‘grandmother’) and are welcome to explore the scenic surrounds in the

Day 4:Srednie Bay

Half a day is not nearly enough time to enjoy and immerse in the beauty of
Peschanaya Bay, so on day 4 you will have the opportunity to explore for another half day.

After this, you will return to your kayaks and start your trip to Srednie Homyty – a picturesque bay in the middle of dense forests. If the
weather is kind, you’ll have the chance to see Baikal seals peering at you from the clear waters of Lake Baikal.

Day 5:Farewell hugs

After breakfast, you will kayak to Bolshoe Goloustnoe Village where you’ll be treated to lunch in the traditional Siberian village before your tour comes to an end.

Today’s kayaking journey will be special and leisurely, allowing you to take
in every little detail and have one last chance to row across the clear and
mysterious waters of Lake Baikal.

You will arrive in the village, to have lunch and pack your things, and the minibus will take you back to Irkutsk.
