Discover the soul of Siberia and its people.

Set sail for adventure along the largest river to flow into the Arctic Ocean. From vast, rugged landscapes to the magical midnight sun, the Yenisei River is where Mother Nature shines her brightest.

You’ll travel aboard the newly renovated 5-star ship in undeniable style. Intricately designed to showcase Siberia at its most authentic, Maxim Gorky MS is a luxurious floating paradise – the perfect place to unwind after a day of new discovery.

Yenisei River Cruise Highlights:

  • Uncover ancient settlements that are frozen in time and steeped in tradition. Follow the path through sacred lands to discover eternal spirits and extinct mammoths.
  • Experience the life of a nomad. See thousands of reindeer in their natural habitat, visit a real chum (a traditional yurt-like shelter) and sample the delicious indigenous cuisines. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
  • Be amazed by the raw beauty of the UNESCO World Heritage site - Plateau Putorana and experience the striking phenomenon of polar days, where the sun never sets in Igarka, located beyond the Arctic Circle.
  • Lose yourself in history at the Dead Road in Yermakovo, Stalin’s unfinished Russian railway claimed the lives of more than 300,000 Gulag prisoners.
  • Savour traditional Siberian dishes and bring your own catch onboard for our chefs to prepare. Experience exquisite onboard dining where every bite is a new discovery, or tempt your taste buds with succulent smoked fish paired with unique local beers.
  • From tundra to taiga, traverse three climatic zones and get up close and personal with local wildlife

Nowhere does nature quite like Siberia. Discover the natural wonders of a vast landscape that has been virtually untouched for centuries. From ancient mountains frozen in time to herds of wild reindeer, the incredible sights as you cruise along the Yenisei River and into Siberia will truly last a lifetime.

Sailing with us includes a number of truly unique polar experiences. Whether it’s visiting a colorful and festive Siberian fair where you’ll learn traditional dances and local handicrafts, or diving into Siberia’s intriguing history (and icy waters), there’s something for every adventurer.

A trip on this Siberian river reveals a side of Russia that is not accessed by the casual traveler, and therefore can be considered a once-in-a-lifetime expedition cruise. With lectures by onboard Russian experts, immersive interactions with locals, and breathtaking landscapes, passengers are unlikely to have encountered anything like it before. And, if you take part in an old tradition for polar explorers to the Arctic -- a dip in the icy waters - followed by drinking saltwater and then a shot of Russian vodka, you'll have bragging rights forever.

Day 1 Krasnoyark: embarkation

Welcome to Siberia! Welcome to beautiful Krasnoyarsk! Our team will meet you directly upon landing, where you’ll be transferred in comfort before boarding your 5-star ship Maxim Gorky. After a brief check-in, you’ll meet the ship’s crew at a delightful cocktail and have your first lunch onboard.

During a sightseeing tour you’ll get acquainted with a city of incredible blends: the central part with ancient merchant houses, the largest factories and plants, wildlife and world-class ski resorts – all this harmoniously adjoins each other and emphasizes the special, unique character of Krasnoyarsk. Enjoy stunning north bridges, a huge number of fountains and stroll along one of the longest streets in the world.

Day 2 Krasnoyarsk

Discover Krasnoyarsk’s sights through the eyes of a local: pick one of two excursion programs and enjoy picturesque viewpoints. A visit to the Krasnoyarsk Hydrostation and eco-trail about 2km or an Auto tour to the Stolby Nature Reserve, on the northwestern spurs of the Eastern Sayan Mountains.

Day 3 Yeniseisk

Merchant houses, monasteries, narrow streets and the spirit of an ancient city with four hundred years of history, which has retained its original appearance to this day. There are many magnificent museums in Yeniseisk, for example, the local «Planer Museum» is listed in the Guinness Book of Records! You will learn what kind of object it is and how to use it while viewing the largest collection of planers in the world.

Day 4 Bakhta

Today, you will have the opportunity to sail on real tarred wooden Siberian boats, taste delicious fish soup on the shore, and try your hand at traditional fishing, as well as picking northern berries in the forest.

Day 5 Kangotovo

A walking tour around the village that you will not find on Google Maps and a meeting with local Old Believers who are not on Facebook. Get ready to get back in time! The Old Believers have honored traditions and their religious way of life for centuries. You will get acquainted with the culture and a household family of the Old Believers and listen to the stories about their connection with fellow believers, the peculiarities of the economy, distinctive cuisine, and everyday activities.

At the second part of the day, you will arrive on the legendary land, the first Russian settlement founded by Mangazeya Cossacks in 1607 on the right bank of the Yenisey River. Enjoy a guided tour around the camp with a lecture about the mysterious Ket people. You can buy fish, taiga tea, souvenirs of the peoples of the north, take pictures in national clothes against the background of an authentic Ket camp and play the national musical instrument. You will also try local treats and tea with taiga herbs sitting by the evening fire.

Day 6 Turukhansk

Welcome to the central village of the largest region of the Krasnoyarsk Area. The living conditions here are severe: frosts reach –60 °С, and in summer the air temperature rises to + 35 °C. There are no railways in the region, only air communication, river and motor transportation. Nevertheless, the beauty and natural reaches of this place are legendary. You'll visit the Museum of Regional Studies of Turukhansk region and the Memorial House-Museum of Y. Sverdlov.

Day 7 Yermakovo and Igarka

After a kilometer hike through the real Siberian forest, you’ll see the remains of the northernmost railway. The grand construction which claimed the lives of more than 300,000 people, tasked with delivering Stalin's dream of an 806-mile-long rail line to run between the Siberian cities Igarka and Salekhard, also called as the «Dead Road». The whole history of the Stalinist repressions silently froze in fragments of the rut.

Later this day, enjoy a bus tour to the Museum of Permafrost, where visitors find themselves in the eternal ice zone. The museum is located in permafrost soil at a depth of 7–10 m, here you can see a unique phenomenon about 50,000 years old – «Ice Mountain».

Day 8 Tyyakha

You’ll also see 1000 deer in Tyyakha, a real chum (shelter similar to yurt), and a big bonfire. That’s an exclusive sight you may only see once in your life! Enjoy warm interactive meetings on the shore, the cuisine of indigenous nations, and get incredible memories for life. Be sure to take a picture in the chum and with a deer. Feel the life of nomads.

After a full of impressions morning and relaxing lunch on board, the ship arrives in Dudinka. Get acquainted with everyday life, ethnic cuisine, traditions, culture and customs of ethnic groups inhabiting Taimyr. You’ll see the ethnocultural complex under the open sky «Taimyr Mow», visit the Taimyr Museum of local history, and enjoy folk art exhibitions. Afterward, you’ll be privileged to see Zhenya – a well-preserved woolly mammoth, which is named for the 11-year-old boy who discovered it.

Day 9 Plateau Putorana

Today you’ll have a unique chance to visit the unreachable place with the sweeping landscapes – the Plateau Putorana. The area was given UNESCO World Heritage status, this is a sight that must be seen to be believed.

Day 10 Dudinka

Your exciting cruise is coming to an end, today you can devote a full day to exploring the city in relaxing way by visiting one of the optional excursions.

Day 11 Dudinka: disembarkation
